Daily logs

A daily log records who was on site, weather, work performed, materials delivered, equipment used, visitors, and any incidents. Photos with timestamps are part of the log. When a dispute arises months later, a consistent daily log is often the deciding evidence.

RFIs and submittals

On larger projects, formal Requests for Information document questions to the design team. Submittals document materials and shop drawings for approval. Track them on a log with submitted, approved, and returned dates. An unanswered RFI is a delay claim waiting to happen.

As-builts

As-built drawings show what was actually built, including changes made during construction. They are required for many commercial projects and protect future owners and inspectors. Keep redlines on a single set of plans as the job goes.
