This Privacy Policy explains how License Contractor School ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use licensecontractorschool.com (the "Site") and our exam prep services.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: name, email, password hash, selected license classification.
- Payment information: processed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
- Study data: practice answers, flashcard progress, notes, highlights, exam attempts.
- Support communications: messages you send us by email or contact form.
- Free test results email: if you ask us to email your free practice test results, we store your email, score, weak topics and the time you agreed, and send that one email. We do not add you to a mailing list.
- Automatic data: IP address, device type, browser, pages visited, referring URL, and interaction events.
2. Cookies and similar technologies
We use first party cookies for authentication and to remember preferences. We also use third party cookies and tags from Google (Google Analytics, Google Ads, and Microsoft Clarity) to measure traffic, understand how the Site is used, and to serve and measure ads. These services may use device identifiers to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant ads on other sites.
You can opt out of Google Analytics via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on and manage personalized ads at Google Ads Settings.
3. How we use your information
Google Ads receives permitted page visits, device and ad-click identifiers, and purchase events including amount, currency and transaction ID for advertising measurement and campaign optimization. We do not send email or phone matching data through this tracking. In the EEA, UK, Switzerland and Canada (our country-only location check cannot distinguish Quebec), advertising tracking waits for acceptance. Unknown locations also wait. Elsewhere, tracking may run unless you reject it or your browser sends Global Privacy Control.
Your browser stores a visitor reference, decision, time, region and the notice shown, retaining previous decisions when you withdraw. Cookie settings lets you change your choice without affecting account access, payments or study progress. Rejection stops new advertising events; previously blocked events are not replayed after acceptance. Browser storage is device-specific and clearing it removes this record. - Provide, operate, and improve the Site and courses.
- Process payments and manage subscriptions.
- Personalize study plans and track your progress.
- Send transactional email (receipts, password resets, course updates).
- Measure marketing performance and prevent fraud and abuse.
- Comply with legal obligations.
4. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:
- Service providers that run the platform (hosting, database, email, Stripe payments, Google, Microsoft Clarity).
- Law enforcement when required by a valid legal request.
- A successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
5. Data retention
We retain account and study data while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to meet tax, accounting, or legal requirements. You may request deletion at any time (see Section 7).
6. Security
We protect your data with TLS in transit, encryption at rest, row level security in our database, and least privilege access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep yours safe.
7. Your rights (California residents)
Under the CCPA and CPRA, California residents may request to know, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information we hold about them, and may opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. 8. Children
The Site is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
9. Changes
We will post any updates to this policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated by email.
